Smart Start - Have to blow every 2 minutes
For the first 8 months, I really had no problems. But that's all over now.
One day, my device just started making me blow every two minutes.
It doesn't recognize that I've started the car and it just runs through its initialization routine over and over again.
I called Smart Start to ask about it. I was on hold for one hour and 45 minutes. I got hold of someone who said it was my battery. My battery is brand new, I said.
Oh, well it's the alternator then. And that was that.
So I drove it for a while even with the "blow every 2 minutes" situation. I took it over to the Smart Start service center to ask them about it. He said, "It's your batt-" "No, it's not the battery, that's brand new." "Oh, then it's your alter-" But my alternator is not showing any issues.
My lights don't flicker, all my interior lights work fine. The car starts right up with no problems.
"Oh well, you see, you press this # key and the 2 key and it shows you your voltage is . . .
well, it's 13.5 volts, and it only needs 12. Hmmm."
But it's the alternator, because that's the only answer I'm going to get. No new device, no further service.
Bye!
So now, I get to look forward to another year of driving while blowing every two minutes. There is no other choice.

I've found that when the device asked me to blow I just left it alone and drove the vehicle for a few miles untill it started beeping to blow with a timer counting down... Still had like 3+ mins to bow btw.
Anyway i blew in it then and it went back to normal.
I'm guessing it's some kind of glitch. The first time it did it to me they replaced the unit, but try this and see if it works.
I have the same problem smart start doesnโt recognize the car started this happens when the engine hot and the battery hot with the battery hot act like a resistor and doesnโt drop the required voltage I have a spare battery in the truck and just charge out the battery plus I always have to keep charging the battery I also park and pop the hood to help cool the engine and battery
