This just happened to my husband's truck! Smart start caught fire, lots of interior damage.

Can anyone say if anything got resolved? Im prepared for a lawsuit if they dont pay for damages!

Impossible to get the removal done

I have been calling since the beginning of the month waiting for them to see the approval that was sent 3 times ( I called the DMV again today) and they resend it and also check to make sure the others were received. I called again over and over and continued to be put on hold after I kept asking not to be. 4 times this happened, some lady Lisa laughter at me because I wanted to talk to a supervisor, then was told they are really busy but it says 2-5 business days.. it has been a month!!! And now my garage tells me they stopped doing business with them. So what now???

User's recommendation: Do drink and drive but do not deal with this place either or u will be stranded anytime there is a malfunction or apparently if your not paying your bill.

I want them to find me a garage, open the email the dmv sent and take back this equipment. You know there job it’s been a month and I have already had to pay for $88 for a calibration I should not have need.

Mechanic Violation

Mechanic was replacing my camshaft sensor and disconnected the battery. I now have a 4dayViolock, I called smart start and explained the situation and they were rude and said its not their problem. Go pay $56 to get it reset, Alberta Transportation must be getting a portion of smart start money or something because they dont care either. Horrible business Id rather do jail time then to have to deal with these people.

No one answers the phone

I have been trying for over a month to contact someone in the administration department. The longest I was on hold was over 3 hours. Do not use this company worst experience ever.

starting 5/21 2020-8/23/2020 when i would go for calibrations it came up circumvention missed rolling test for 4 months this came every day.every time i went for calibration these violation would come up and smart start would call the test station and tell to look for...

To add on to my previous stuff I forgot to mention that because of smart start not getting back to me over the issue with there device being installed by someone they told to install, who wasn't supposed to have, I had lost my drivers license. Took a month to get it...

I got in an accident in dec 2019 I had to get this device reinstalled after having it for a year, if this happens your time starts over for court/dmv. So I got a new one installed in my new car. They refused to get the old one out costing me 2000 dollars for the device...

Got a viol

on 12 30 20 around 1130 am was called to a emergency with a elderly man in jericho vermont and when i was almost at the scene my device went off just got done eating a breakfast sandwich anyways there was no alcohol involved i was surround by state police etc when i got back in my truck i passed

Ive attested my malfunction only to recieve an email denying my issue to be resolved. It didnt surprise me as you automatically assume as an offender we must be stupid enough to drink and try to somehow manipulate this device we pay for. Hand sanitizer sets this thing off...mouthwash ...toothpaste..and once you fail you must continue to blow therefore you end up getting locked out....! Ridiculous. Listerine has 27% alcohol in it...it doesnt just go away in 3 minutes. And when you attest for your miistake of using mouthwash ..they still deny. Get a beater put this thing in it ..and let it sit until you have to have it calibrated. Its much easiee

I was charged 150.00 today even though I was within my grace period. I've called your company since September 29th. I had a problem with the device I had and had to go get a different device. This should not be held against me. Please rebate 75.00 since I was not beyond my grace period. Please check your notes. I have called many times during your my m as my many problems Please help asap.

Bad company

I posted here before about this company. It seems people in the USA are having the same problems as the people in the USA. Which means the man who called me from the USA is a proven liar as he claimed smart start was run much better than it is in Canada. Sadly people are contacting me AND I AM PROVIDING THE INFO I HAVE TOO THEM AND THEIR LAWYERS AS WELL AS THE NY HEAD LYING ABOUT HOW GOOD THE COMPANY IS.

I was in violation lock on the 12th of this

getting ready to take off at 11 am 1200 am on the 12th and read a violation havent had a problem in a while a haD a couple of viol in a rownd got worryed then contacted s start they lead me threw a couple of things to do and was able to get threw this mess because of hand sanitser and calonge set my unit to violate i got a lock down date and i beleive i have 72 hrs left to get my unit checked out been threw this several times in the past and had to pay 75 bucks for this *** i havent used valcohol in a while so it wasnt on my part thank you and pls take care of this problem and have a great day

Had a viol this morning between 11am and 12 am

heading to work and was stoped by a vio called the smart start people and they directed me to do some things and then it came out to be a warning,it had somethinking to do with my had was or sweat shirt i was wereing at the time there was no alcohol in my system have had a problem with this happening in a long time and dont want no more,the problem was fixed by cleaning out the tube and airing out my truck,thanks for your help,pls cancel the viol because there was no viol here,thanks for your help in this matter have a great rest off the evening

False reading

Sept 7 2020 Monday @ 735pm: went to start my car and I blew, system said Initializing then shut down. This happened three times in a row then said I was in violation. Two minutes later it said Warning. Then ten minutes later it said Pass. Think the system was trying to rebot itself. Not sure what happened but it was a false reading. Had not drank any alcohol that day.
